Located in downtown Vancouver, Everest Therapeutics is your premier destination for the widest range of specialized massage therapy treatments. The brief descriptions below may help you decide which method of massage is best for you and your unique needs. Acupressure Massage – using the fingers, the pressure is applied to over 100 points and meridians (energy pathways) on the body. This pressure stimulates the energy (aka Chi) to balance and regulate the body’s systems.

Baby Massage –  this is an ancient tradition of providing nurturing touch to your baby as a way of bonding with them and calming them. Infant massage has been shown to reduce colic, help soothe fussy tummies and help improve a baby’s health by stimulating the immune, circulatory and digestive systems through proper pressure points and gentle massage strokes.

Cranial Sacral Therapy – a gentle, hands-on method of therapy that helps evaluate and enhance the overall functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system – comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. With a soft touch — generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the weight of a nickel – a practitioner releases restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system.

Deep Tissue Massage – a deeper pressure massage, helpful in releasing chronic muscle tension, headaches and pain.  The focus on this massage therapy treatment is to narrow in on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints).

Lymph Drainage – a very light form of massage that encourages natural and gradual lymph flow in the body. This particular type of massage therapy treatment is especially beneficial for detoxification, edema, pre and post-plastic surgery and scar tissue treatment.

Myofascial Release – a mild form of stretching and balancing that is shown to have a profound therapeutic effect on the body’s tissues at a deep level. Using a complete range of pressures from “off the body” energy to deep tissue pressure, myofascial release uses varying degrees of intensity.

Osteopathic Techniques – a therapy that assists the body to gently remove old tensions created by injury or strain.  Once the tensions are removed through osteopathy therapy, the body can then reuse its natural ability to heal itself.

Pregnancy Massage – also known as pre-natal massage, this therapy promotes relaxation, soothes nerves, and relieves strained back and leg muscles in expectant mothers. Pregnancy massage is especially beneficial in the second and third trimesters, to help with the changing strains on the body.

Reiki – a powerful non-massage therapy in which hands are placed just off the body or lightly touching the body, the Reiki method of healing is said to have long-lasting effects on body and mind relaxation, healing and realization.

Shiatsu Massage – a form of Oriental massage therapy that combines assisted-stretching techniques and acupressure to restore energy balance in the body. Applying pressure to specific points, shiatsu massage helps to promote energy distribution throughout the body and to correct disharmonies within the body.

Sports Massage – geared toward professional athletes and sports enthusiasts alike, this particular massage technique is specific to the athlete’s sport of choice and focuses on treating areas of the body that are overused and over-stressed from repetitive and aggressive movements.

Trigger Point Therapy – a massage technique that involves applying short, repeated massage strokes to the body’s trigger points, which are tiny contraction knots in muscle tissue where pain or stress resides.

Visceral Manipulation – a massage treatment consisting of gentle, specifically placed manual forces that facilitate the stability of the movements of the patient’s internal organs.
