Massage Therapy for Low Back Pain in Pregnancy in Downtown Vancouver

Low back discomfort is common during pregnancy. Changes in posture, activity, sleep, work demands and the physical changes of pregnancy can all contribute to muscle tension or aching around the low back, hips and pelvis. At Everest Therapeutics, Registered Massage Therapists provide pregnancy massage that is adapted to your comfort, health history and stage of pregnancy.

Massage therapy is a supportive option for pregnancy-related muscle tension and discomfort. It does not diagnose pregnancy complications, replace care from your physician or midwife, or make promises about pain relief. Your RMT will ask about your symptoms and modify positioning, pressure and treatment as appropriate.

Our Pre- and Post-Natal Massage Therapists

How prenatal massage supports comfort

Where appropriate, your RMT uses comfortable side-lying or supported positioning, pillows and cushions, and work gently with areas such as the low back, hips, glutes, upper back and legs. The aim is to support relaxation and ease muscle tension—not to treat labour, induce delivery, or manage a medical complication.

When to Contact a Physician or Midwife First?

Contact your doctor, midwife or maternity-care team before booking if your pain is new, severe, worsening, wakes you at night, includes leg numbness or weakness, or does not settle. Seek urgent maternity advice for bleeding, fluid leakage, fever, regular contractions, severe headache, visual changes, sudden swelling, chest pain, shortness of breath, or reduced fetal movement. Massage is not appropriate until urgent concerns have been assessed.

What to Expect

Tell your RMT about your due date, pregnancy history, current symptoms, medical guidance, medications and any comfort or positioning needs. Wear comfortable clothing and let your therapist know if pressure or positioning is uncomfortable at any time.
