Massage Therapy Support for Headaches and Migraines in Downtown Vancouver

Headaches and migraines can have many causes. Some people notice neck, shoulder, scalp or jaw tension alongside their symptoms; others need medical assessment, medication or a broader care plan. Everest RMTs may provide supportive massage therapy when muscle tension is part of the picture and treatment is appropriate.

Massage does not diagnose migraines, treat neurological conditions, or replace medical care. It cannot promise to stop an attack or prevent headaches. Your RMT will ask about your headache pattern, associated symptoms, current treatment and what is comfortable for you.

How Massage Therapy May Support Care

Treatment may focus on the neck, shoulders, upper back, scalp, jaw or related soft-tissue tension. During an active migraine, some people prefer low-light, gentle work or may choose to postpone. Your RMT will adjust pressure and stop if symptoms worsen.

Red Flags: Seek Urgent Care

Call 911 for a sudden severe headache unlike previous headaches, or headache with weakness, numbness, vision changes, speech difficulty, confusion, trouble walking or loss of consciousness. Seek prompt medical care for headache with fever and stiff neck, after significant head injury, during pregnancy/postpartum, with persistent vomiting, or when the pattern is new, worsening or different from usual.
