Postpartum Massage Therapy in Downtown Vancouver
The postpartum period can bring new physical demands: feeding and carrying positions, interrupted sleep, recovery from pregnancy and birth, and changes in activity. Some people notice tension in the neck, shoulders, back, hips, hands or legs. Everest RMTs provide supportive massage therapy tailored to comfort, health history and recovery needs.
Massage therapy does not replace care from a physician, midwife, pelvic-health physiotherapist or mental-health professional. It does not assess postpartum complications, treat infection, or replace follow-up after a caesarean birth or other procedure. Your RMT will adapt care or defer treatment when needed.
What an RMT May Support
Where appropriate, treatment may focus on general muscle tension, feeding/posture-related neck and shoulder discomfort, low-back or hip tension, and relaxation. Let your therapist know about birth recovery, incision or scar concerns, breastfeeding comfort, sleep, medications and any medical guidance. Treatment pressure and positioning can be adjusted throughout.
Postpartum Red Flags
Seek urgent medical help for heavy bleeding, chest pain, shortness of breath, coughing blood, fainting, seizure, severe headache, new vision changes, fever, a painful/red/swollen leg, a rapidly worsening abdominal or pelvic pain, signs of infection, or thoughts of harming yourself, your baby or another person. Contact your maternity-care provider before massage if you are unsure whether symptoms are part of normal recovery.
