Manual Lymph Drainage Massage and Scar Tissue Reduction

How does Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) help reduce scar tissue?

In the subacute stage, collagen fibres will start taking on a gel-like state before becoming completely fibrotic.  MLD will liquefy the collagen from its gelatinous state which creates greater ease in transporting it away from the area.

MLD is also affective on old scars where the tissue is hard and fibrotic.  The fibres are softened with a slightly more aggressive yet still incredibly gentle technique.  The hardness of the tissue will soften and become more supple and smooth.

What types of scars can be improved with MLD?

It can be used on scar tissue from contusions, lacerations, skin ulcers, acne, radiation, keloids, and surgical incisions/procedures.

What are the results of MLD treated scar tissue?

1.    Greater range of motion
2.    Improved circulation
3.    Topical scars will be less visible
4.    The scar will be less or no longer palpable
5.    Pain will decrease greatly or disappear
6.    Overall increase in tissue health
7.    Nerve sensory reception may return

Manual Lymph Drainage has tremendous results in scar tissue reduction. Patients are amazed that such a gentle modality can have such an incredible outcome.
